If you're playing online poker, you'll want your own Static / Fixed IP for obvious reasons. They're a bit more expensive, but you don't want to find yourself in the uncomfortable situation of having a matching IP with another player at your tables / levels / poker site.
I believe your own Static IP will = faster traffic as well. And if your traffic on your server slows for some reason [has happened to me once or twice], you get five free switches a month. This means, for no charge, you simply select another of all the available options for your package - request a switch - you could change from a Hong Kong IP to a French IP in 5 minutes.
PPTP and OpenVPN. I can't pretend I know much about PPTP - except that it's cheaper, and that OpenVPN has less 'problems' [reliably told it's negligible]. I've always used OpenVPN and it's a 2 click, 5 second process which suits me as thinking hurts. But I'm told PPTP is very much comparable.
All your internet traffic runs through the tunnel for both PPTP and OpenVPN. They are complete redirecting solutions.
